PGR004:
Manikan – Noche Buena
Release Date: 6/28/11
1. Manikan – Noche Buena (Original Mix)
2. Manikan – Indigo (Original Mix)
3. Manikan – Bamboo Meltdown (Original Mix)
4. Manikan – Noche Buena (Distal Remix)
5. Manikan – Bamboo Meltdown (Dev79 Remix)
Manikan’s debut EP on Party Guy Records, entitled Noche Buena, starts off with the title track; a fierce hybrid of stomping Chicago House kick drums rhythms layered with a raw, bouncing bassline and marching snare hits. Old school diva vocals drive the track and tie it all together in what is sure to be a summer anthem. “Indigo” follows, and brings a much tougher, thuggier vibe to the EP. Quick piano stabs, mixed in with white noise bursts, backed up with a punishing drum kit give this tune a big room sound. Next up is “Bamboo Meltdown” which one could liken to Canblaster or Brenmar, with its bouncing, steppy drumwork and catchy synth line. The sparse haunting R&B vocals and tribal percussion paint a dark atmosphere, that is sure to light up any club. Distal’s remix of “Noche Buena” gets LOW. Rocking sub bass coupled with lighting fast high hats give this remix the ATL treatment it deserves. Back once again with Party Guy Records is Dev79 with a sound like none other. Dev79’s remix is a melting pot of styles, encompassing glitched out beats with wonky bass slides all under one tropical rhythm.

Atlantic Connection
Since the inception of Westbay Music Group in 2006, Atlantic Connection’s primary mission has been the delivery of forward thinking, soulful dance music.
After a 5 year run under the production duo Basic Operations and a fresh re-invention into his solo project Atlantic Connection, Nathan Hayes felt it was time to take creative control of his music and thus Westbay Recordings was born. Teaming up with UK PR mogul Jeryl Wilton, Westbay Recordings quickly turned out its first few releases (which included collaborations with Makoto, Redeyes, Deviant, Illy Emcee & more).

Distal
Atlanta based producer, and part-owner of EMBASSY RECORDINGS Distal has found himself rapidly building an internationally familiar brand in 2010.
Combining time travel with dance music Distal breaks down the more ambiguous sounds from the past and fuses them with thoughts and equations of the future. Because of this non-traditional approach to Dubstep, Funky and Techno, Distal has been forced to take a few risks, but along the way has created a very specific and friendly sound for himself.
Bridging the gap between techno, breakbeat hardcore, house, funk, gangster rap, and even pop culture, is a tricky formula to entertain. This enthusiasm has already gained the attention of many well-respected shamans and pioneers working in Dubstep and Techno today. Most recently his first two releases under Embassy have graced the track listings of Appleblim, 2562, Joe Nice, Moldy, Ramadanman, BenUFO, Julio Bashmore, Breakage, and Moldy The list of recognition is set to grow in March 2010 with three releases due out ( Rogue Dubs, Car Crash Set, and Embassy ).

Apt One
Originally from Pittsburgh, DJ Apt One cut his teeth on the DJ game in Philadelphia. In the city that pioneered anything-goes DJing, party rocking is a civic identity. If a DJ can make it in Philly, he can murder dance floors anywhere. DJ Apt One has proven that to a T – taking a blend of disco, club, classics, electro, house and rap from the clubs and block parties of Philly to the velvet ropes of Hollywood, the gritty dives of Detroit and beyond.
DJ Apt One is half of Philadelphyinz (along with Skinny Friedman), a duo of Pittsburgh ex-pats responsible for a series of thriving, genre-bending, anything-goes parties in Philadelphia and New York. With a taste for everything from club to pop to disco to rap to house, the two throw everything into the mix, from old classics to the floor destroyers of tomorrow.
He’s also one half of RCMP (along with Pittsburgh producer Relative Q), a project pays tribute to the freewheeling dance sounds of the early electrodisco age. The project was released on vinyl with Flamin Hotz records in summer 2009 to rave reviews, with some going so far as to call it “The best nu disco record since Holy Ghost!” A digital EP and two singles were released in 2010.
Pushing five years old, the original Philadelphyinz party at Medusa Lounge is still going strong and Metropolis at the Barbary set a standard for disco and house in Philly. Hot Mess at Silk City is one of the most jumpin’ rap and classics parties in the city. All of this has created demand for Apt and Skinny to take their sound from coast to coast repeatedly in the last several years.
DJ Apt One has shared stages with some of the best talents of this generation, including The Rub, Diplo, Tittsworth, Juan Maclean, Treasure Fingers, Nick Catchdubs, Blaqstarr, DJ Sega, Cousin Cole, Sammy Bananas, Spank Rock, Dave Nada, Wale, South Rakkas Crew, Peanut Butter Wolf, De La Soul, !!!, Plastic Little, RJD2, Bonde do Role, DJ Neil Armstrong, Edan, The Budos Band, DJ Excel, The Flaming Lips, Flosstradamus and many, many more.
In the last several years, DJ Apt One has become as well renowned for his production as for his DJing. Philadelphyinz’s “Pittsburgh Club Anthem” has become a staple at parties in their hometown and has seen spins on local top 40 stations and as in-game-entertainment at the Mellon Arena and Heinz Field. RCMP was deemed one of 2009’s breakout records by Discobelle and The Rub. “Show Me What You Got” shot to Turntable Lab’s #1 spot and Apt One’s classic remixes and edits have become staples of DJ sets in clubs and on the radio worldwide.
The future will see the release of new RCMP material as well as DJ Apt One’s Classic Edits and Remixes series, which compiles his renowned edits along with numerous unreleased gems he has in his DJ sets. Also 2010 will see the debut of the fONKSQUISh / DJ Apt One collaboration, which features remixes, arrangement and synthesizer work with artists such as Funkadelic bassist Billy Bass Nelson, Philly International singer Denise King and more!
